The CELBAN Help Centre Events are a place to pause, explore, and learn before deciding what comes next. You may come because you have a question. You may come because you are not sure what you need to work on. Or you may come because you want to practise a particular skill.Β You will leave with greater self-awareness, Shared learning, and maybe even a sense of belonging.
The CELBAN Help Centre Events are live opportunities to explore CELBAN preparation through the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB).
These are not CELBAN courses, official CELBAN tests, or a replacement for individual preparation. They are a place to learn, practise, ask questions, and better understand what you may need to develop.
Some elements focus on a particular CLB skill.Β
Some give you an opportunity to reflect on your own abilities.Β
Others give you space to ask questions and learn alongside other IENs and IEHPs.
> You do not need to know exactly what you need before you come.Β
Part of the purpose of the Events is to help you discover that.

What do you mean by CLB skill development?
CLB skill development means developing the ability to use language to accomplish communicative tasks described through the Canadian Language Benchmarks. CELBAN applies the CLB framework in the healthcare context.
The activities focus on communicative skills described through the CLB framework.
The skills can be relevant to CELBAN because CELBAN applies the CLB framework in the healthcare context.
Our activities are CLB-informed learning activities, not official CELBAN questions.
Examples: identifying important information, following sequence, recognizing purpose, understanding implied meaning, etc.

What does self-evaluation mean in the CELBAN Help Centre?
Self-evaluation is not the same as testing.
You may ask:
What can I do?
What is difficult?
What do I understand?
What do I need to develop?
What evidence do I have?
A self-evaluation activity can help you identify an area for development; it does not by itself determine CELBAN readiness or predict a CELBAN score.
What happens during a CELBAN Help Centre live event?
Live learning gives participants an opportunity to explore a skill together rather than simply receive information about it.
During a session, you as a participant may:
work through a skill-development activity;
discuss possible responses;
examine why an answer works;
ask questions;
connect the skill to healthcare communication;
reflect on your own development.
One important distinction:
Live learning is not the same as teacher-led course instruction.
What kind of questions can you bring?
Questions & Discussion are part of the learning process, as well as a skill required to obtain higher scores on CLB-based assessments like the CELBAN.
You, as a participants can ask about CELBAN preparation, CLB skills, communication development, preparation resources, and your own learning questions.
> The purpose is not to provide a single answer to every preparation question.Β
It is to help participants understand how to think about the question.
The CELBAN Help Centre Events provide a place for IENs and IEHPs to learn alongside others who are navigating CELBAN preparation and professional integration in Canada.
Community does not mean everyone has the same level of English, the same CELBAN history, or the same learning needs.
It means having a place to ask questions, encounter different perspectives, and discover that preparation does not have to happen alone.
The CELBAN Help Centre Events are a place to pause, explore, and learn before deciding what comes next.

Or you may simply want to listen and see what you discover. β Β
There is no expectation that everyone will arrive at the same place or move at the same pace.
The purpose is to help you become more informed about your own preparation:
what you can do,Β
what you may need to develop,Β
what questions you need to ask, andΒ
what your next step might be.
